Marjorie Hendrix (sometimes Hendricks) (March 13, 1935 – July 14, 1973) was an American rhythm and blues singer and founding member of the Raelettes, who were the backing singers for Ray Charles, the father of her child, Charles Wayne Hendrix.

She sang lead and background on several of Charles's hit songs of the late 1950s and early 1960s, but after she was ejected from the group in 1964 she attempted a solo career with the labels Mercury Records and Sound Stage 7 before she was dropped from both of them due to her music not charting. She experienced alcoholism, heroin addiction, depression, and poverty until she died in 1973 at the age of 38.

Ray Charles Robinson (Albany, 23 settembre 1930 – Beverly Hills, 10 giugno 2004) è stato un cantautore e pianista statunitense, considerato uno dei pionieri della musica soul.

Perse completamente la vista all'età di sei anni, probabilmente a causa di un glaucoma. Durante la sua carriera seppe coniugare sonorità diverse, dal rhythm and blues alla musica country, dal vocal jazz al piano blues fino al soul blues. Il brano Georgia on My Mind è stato il suo maggior successo. Nel 1990 partecipò, classificandosi al secondo posto, al Festival di Sanremo dove interpretò in coppia con Toto Cutugno la canzone Gli amori.

Il suo ultimo contributo alla musica è stato la produzione di un disco di duetti con B.B. King, Elton John, Norah Jones e Johnny Mathis. The Genius - come era stato soprannominato per il suo talento artistico, nel 1980 apparve nel film The Blues Brothers. Frank Sinatra lo chiamò "l'unico vero genio nel nostro campo".

Nel 2004 Rolling Stone lo nominò 10º tra i 100 più grandi artisti musicali di tutti i tempi e 2º nella classifica del 2008 dei 100 più grandi cantanti di sempre. Il brano Georgia on My Mind ed altri motivi come I Can't Stop Loving You, Unchain My Heart e Hit the Road Jack gli sono valsi tredici Grammy.
