Gunnlaugr Illugason (984 – Norvegia, 1009) è stato un poeta islandese, noto anche come Ormstunga "Lingua di serpente" a causa delle due poesie pungenti; la sua vita è descritta nella Gunnlaugs saga ormstungu, trascritta in due manoscritti e che conserva molti dei suoi componimenti.

Helga the Fair was an Icelandic woman whose life and relationships are described in Gunnlaugs saga ormstungu. She is the daughter of Þorsteinn Egilsson and his wife Jofrid, and the granddaughter of Egill Skallagrímsson. Helga is trapped in a love triangle with Gunnlaugr Ormstunga and Hrafn Önundarson, which eventually leads to the men's deaths.
