Ahmed I (Ottoman Turkish: احمد اول Aḥmed-i evvel; Turkish: I. Ahmed; 18 April 1590 – 22 November 1617) was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1603 to 1617. Ahmed's reign is noteworthy for marking the first breach in the Ottoman tradition of royal fratricide; henceforth, Ottoman rulers would no longer systematically execute their brothers upon accession to the throne. He is also well known for his construction of the Blue Mosque, one of the most famous mosques in Turkey.

Hatice Mahfiruz Hatun (turco ottomano: ماہ فروز خاتون, lett. "fanciulla rispettosa" e "luna gloriosa"; chiamata anche Mahfiruze Hatun, lett. "luna diurna" o "luna turchese"; 1590 circa – Costantinopoli, 1610 circa) è stata una concubina di Ahmed I, nonché madre del suo primogenito, Osman II. Premorì al figlio e quindi non fu mai Valide Sultan.

Mahpeyker Kösem Sultan (turco ottomano: كوسم ماه پيكر سلطان, lett. "viso di luna" e "leader"; Tinos, 1590 circa – Costantinopoli, 2 settembre 1651) è stata la donna più potente della storia ottomana come consorte del sultano Ahmed I, madre e reggente dei sultani Murad IV e Ibrahim I e nonna e reggente del sultano Mehmed IV, fino alla sua morte per mano di Turhan Sultan, madre di Mehmed.
