Dorothea Jordan (nata Dorothea Bland; Waterford, 21 novembre 1761 – Saint-Cloud, 5 luglio 1816) è stata un'attrice teatrale e cortigiana anglo-irlandese, e l'amante e compagna del futuro re Guglielmo IV del Regno Unito, per vent'anni mentre costui era Duca di Clarence. Insieme ebbero dieci figli illegittimi, ognuno dei quali prese il cognome FitzClarence.

Guglielmo IV (Guglielmo Enrico di Hannover; Buckingham Palace, 21 agosto 1765 – Castello di Windsor, 20 giugno 1837) è stato re del Regno Unito di Gran Bretagna e Irlanda e re di Hannover dal 26 giugno 1830 fino alla sua morte.

Guglielmo era figlio di Giorgio III e fratello di Giorgio IV. Durante la sua giovinezza servì nella Royal Navy e fu per questo soprannominato il Re Marinaio. Il suo regno fu breve, ma segnato da alcune importanti riforme: la legislazione sui poveri (la Poor Law) fu modernizzata, il governo municipale democratizzato, il lavoro dei bambini venne limitato e la schiavitù abolita in tutto l'impero britannico. La più importante riforma legislativa del suo regno fu l'Atto di Riforma del 1832, che riformò il sistema elettorale britannico. Il re Guglielmo IV non partecipò alla vita politica del paese come il padre o il fratello, sebbene sia stato l'ultimo sovrano a dare l'incarico a un primo ministro contro la volontà del parlamento, nel 1834.

Sir Richard Ford (1758 – 3 May 1806) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1789 to 1791.

Ford was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the borough of East Grinstead in Sussex at an unopposed by-election in February 1789. He held that seat until the general election in 1790, when he was returned unopposed for the borough of Appleby in Westmorland.

He served less than a year as an MP for Appleby, until he resigned from the Commons in early 1791 by accepting the post of Steward of East Hendred. (The by-election for his successor was held in May 1791).

After serving the Undersecretary of State in the home office, Richard Ford was for many years chief police magistrate of London, for which services he was knighted. Ford lived some years with actress Dorothea Jordan, who had three children by him, one of whom died. She left him when his promises of marriage were not fulfilled, because it went against the wishes of Ford's father. Ford later married Benjamin Booth's daughter and a heiress. His eldest son from this marriage was also named Richard Ford known for his travel writings about Spain and art collection.
